Before moving to Colorado, I grew up in a large family along the shores of Lake Michigan. Although not by trade, my father was an educated and very talented artist. I can still recall some of our conversations where he instilled in me an appreciation of all types of art; whether it is in the form of abstract or realism, all art has beauty.
I am drawn to abstract, I love the process of creating; deciding which colors to use, what to materials to include, and the composition. My paintings vary from flowers to pure abstract… sometimes the ending art piece is nothing what I imagined in the beginning. It’s the journey… My favorite part of the process is when I reach the point where I feel connected with the picture. My hope is that it also pleases the art lover, leading them on their own journey of discovery and interpretation. My paintings are made using layers of thick and thin color that is washed over plaster texture or rice paper, using brushes, trowels and found objects. I paint in acrylic, watercolor and chalk pastels.
