My work is about everyday life those moments that you can sit and ponder, those moments that are “Kodak moments,” if they are not taken are forgotten. My faith in God has a lot to do with my creativity for it is he who inspires me, It may be a thought, it may be a person, it may be something that I see or read, but in that moment I know it is God wanting me to capture it and put it on paper. I want the canvas to speak, sing, and declare God’s goodness, his faithfulness, his sovereignty, his love, his mercy, his grace, and his redeeming love for people. Through my process of creating art I first must be inspired by the subject matter and that begins the process to portray life, its mystery, spontaneity, colorfulness, but also life’s struggles, which we all have at times. God’s inspiration is so exciting to me it makes being an artist fun, with unexpected surprises. It is joyful to create new images and share our thoughts and views. It is stimulating to see as an artist how I can develop the emotions and feelings of a person, place or thing that has made me think about God, but also the human condition. Many times I am inspired by poetry and music that speak to the human heart. Through these mediums of expression I am influenced to express those words and feelings in a paintings, drawings, or mixed media. When I create works of art I am giving something of myself to others, and I want you to go away and feel inspired to do something positive with your life and in the life of others.
